Shroomjak first showed up on 4chan in January 2021 โ someone posted a mushroom-headed Wojak with the caption "i made my own wojak." The first reply told him to kill himself. He did not react. He has still not reacted.
By that summer he was everywhere โ Reddit, Twitter, Instagram, a hundred variations, a nickname ("Shrigma Male"), even a corner of the internet that decided, only half-joking, that he was secretly some kind of forest entity. Both readings work. He's chill because he's plugged into something the rest of the timeline isn't.
On Robinhood Chain, that's the whole bit: green candle, red candle, rug, moonshot โ same expression. He was never reacting to the chart. He was never going to start.
Nobody who's spent time in Shroomjak's corner of the internet fully agrees on what he is. Some say he's just a chill guy having a good time. Others insist โ mostly seriously โ that he's older than that, a fungal thing that predates the joke, watching from somewhere the chart can't reach.
